Cambodian Defence Minister Engages with Malaysian Armed Forces Chief in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala lumpur: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha met with H.E. Gen. Mohamed Nizam, Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, and his delegation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the meeting on August 5, the Malaysian side reiterated its strong commitment to assisting in the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions focused on the development of a Terms of Reference (TOR) and the establishment of the ASEAN Monitoring Team (AMT). This initiative aims to serve as a credible mechanism to monitor compliance, build mutual confidence, and ensure the sustainable restoration of peace along the border swiftly.

H.E. Gen. Nizam conveyed a meaningful message emphasizing the value of life, the essence of time, and the cost of peace. In response, H.E. Gen. Tea Banh cited guidance from Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister, highlighting the importance of negotiations in saving lives and achieving peace sooner.

H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha noted that over the past three days, the General Border Committee (GBC) Secretariat teams from Cambodia and Thailand have engaged in constructive discussions. Cambodia's proposals have been accepted by Thailand, and Cambodia has also welcomed valuable inputs from the Thai side.
