Cambodia's senior delegation has attended the 7th Conference of Foreign Affairs Committees of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam (CLV) to support and enhance Development Triangle Area (DTA) in Vietnam.
As stated in a news release of the national assembly, the Kingdom's delegation was led by H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Propaganda and Information Commission.
Taking place on August 17-18, 2019 in Ha Long city of Quang Ninh province, the conference was chaired by H.E. Ms. Tong Thi Phong, Vice President of Vietnam's National Assembly under the theme of national assembly's role in the implementation of cooperative agreement among member countries of development triangle area.
Addressing the opening of the session, H.E. Chheang Vun laid stress on the need to build stronger cooperation among CLV in economic connectivity for sustainable development, prosperity, peace, and stability in response to rapid global revolution.
H.E. Chheang Vun congratulated various achievements of the governments of CLV so far and expressed his support for initiative to upgrade current master plan for socio-economic development of the three neighbours for 2020-2030.
The Cambodian lawmaker suggested the conference to also review laws and policies on investment, trade, finance, banking, and customs to better promote trade within CLV.
He further requested all stakeholders and competent authorities in the three nations to boost trade flow, develop physical infrastructure and develop human resources by mobilizing contribution and resources from private sector and development partners like Japan, China, European Union, ASEAN member countries, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and World Bank (WB).
Cambodia will host the Conference of Foreign Affairs Committees of CLV National Assemblies in 2021.
