Kuala lumpur: A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, departed from Techo International Airport this morning to attend the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting concerning the situation between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting, taking place today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was arranged following a joint decision made by the Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand on December 11, 2025. The Special Meeting aims to address recent developments in the situation, with goals to foster mutual understanding, promote de-escalation of tensions, and restore peace, stability, and good neighborly relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) stated that Cambodia will assert its commitment to resolving differences and disputes through peaceful means, dialogue, and diplomacy, in alignment with international law, the UN Charter, and the ASEAN Charter.
On the sidelines of the meeting, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn is also expected to engage in bilateral discussions with other ASEAN ministers to enhance cooperation and promote confidence-building measures.
The MFAIC emphasized that Cambodia's participation in this Special Meeting demonstrates the Royal Government of Cambodia's dedication to maintaining peace, security, and prosperity in the region, while upholding ASEAN Centrality and unity, reinforcing ASEAN's ongoing contribution to the global community.
