Phnom Penh:Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has reaffirmed the government's commitment to prioritize investment in education and health, ensuring that spending in these key sectors remains a top priority.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during a graduation ceremony at Asia Euro University in Phnom Penh, the Prime Minister emphasized that the budget for education in 2027 is projected to rise by 4.7 percent compared to 2026, reaching approximately US$1.1 billion annually.
Hun Manet highlighted that this increase reflects the government's ongoing focus on human resource development and providing quality education to Cambodians. He assured the public that any increase in defense spending would not impact the education and health budgets.
The health sector is also set to see a budget increase of 1.5 percent in 2027, amounting to around US$680 million.
Additionally, Hun Manet reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining social assistance programs despite economic challenges such as conflicts, inflation, and rising fuel prices. The government will continue to explore measures to support those facing hardships in the current economic climate.
