Beijing: Ms. Pheng Somany from Cambodia's state-run Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) is participating in the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) Programme in Beijing from May 13 to Aug. 13, 2026.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the opening ceremony of CIPCC 2026 was held on May 21, attended by notable dignitaries including H.E. Hong Lei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China; H.E. Ma Huaide, President of Renmin University of China; and Ms. Tong Xiaoling, Ambassador of the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA). H.E. Hong Lei extended a warm welcome to participants from 90 countries, emphasizing his hopes for journalists from the Global South to enhance their understanding of China and collaborate towards modernisation and shared development during the three-month programme.
Ms. Tong Xiaoling highlighted the CPDA's commitment to making the CIPCC a vital platform where global media can gain insight into China. Since its inception, the CPDA has invited nearly 1,000 journalists from over 140 developing and emerging-market countries for training and field visits in China.
Supported by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CIPCC is regarded as a premier training programme for foreign journalists. Renmin University of China has been a partner in the programme since 2014, contributing to its aim of improving reporting quality, fostering people-to-people exchanges, and enhancing cooperation among media organisations worldwide.
