Phnom penh: The National Assembly (NA) of the Kingdom of Cambodia issued a response this afternoon to a statement by the Thai NA President on July 13, 2025, regarding the recent comments made by the Cambodian NA President at the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the intervention by Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, took place at the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament at 11:51 am on July 28, 2025 (Geneva Time). The purpose of the intervention was to inform women speakers globally about the facts concerning the armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand. The Cambodian NA emphasized that this intervention occurred before the ceasefire negotiations in Kuala Lumpur on July 28, 2025.
During the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, held at 10:51 am on July 30, 2025 (Geneva Time), Samdech Khuon Sudary commended the ceasefire declaration, which was mediated by Malaysia on July 28, 2025. She expressed gratitude to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his leadership in hosting the ceasefire talks and acknowledged the involvement of President Donald Trump and China in co-organizing the meeting. The Cambodian NA President extended thanks to international allies for their support of the ceasefire, which aims to save lives and preserve the livelihoods of both nations' people.
The Cambodian NA reaffirmed its support for the Royal Government of Cambodia's dedication to upholding the ceasefire with sincerity, in pursuit of enduring peace and stability between Cambodia and Thailand.
