Phnom penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called for constructive dialogue based on sound reasoning and genuine intentions, saying that the Royal Government welcomes all those willing to contribute to the national cause with clear arguments and a commitment to the national interest.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister made the remarks on Wednesday while presiding over the 11th National Gathering with Achar and Acharini from across Cambodia at the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh. He emphasized the importance of engaging in discussions grounded in facts and reasoned debate, stating, "If you speak with reasons and arguments, not have to agree with the Royal Government; we welcome it as long as there are clear and reasonable arguments."
Samdech Thipadei reiterated his openness to anyone genuinely willing to contribute to the national cause through constructive and reasonable efforts, regardless of whether their views align with those of the government. At a time when Cambodia is facing an invasion, he also called for dialogue and national unity, highlighting the need for genuine commitment and mutual respect.
"I want to send a message to everyone: I want dialogue and national unity at a time when there is an invasion. If there is genuine willingness and mutual respect, I welcome everyone," he stated. The Prime Minister stressed that issues should be addressed through dialogue and compromise, guided by reason, genuine commitment, and a focus on the national interest.
He further explained the role of H.E. Ms. Kem Monovithya, daughter of former opposition leader H.E. Kem Sokha, who was recently appointed as a Special Envoy of the Prime Minister by Royal Decree. Samdech Thipadei noted that she would assist the Royal Government, particularly in investment promotion and border-related matters, leveraging her extensive network of contacts and potential to contribute to the national interest.
The Prime Minister urged that the appointment of H.E. Ms. Kem Monovithya should be viewed within the broader context of promoting a culture of dialogue, national reconciliation, and cooperation for the benefit of Cambodia. He emphasized the necessity for individuals willing to contribute constructively, regardless of their background, provided their efforts are based on genuine intentions, sound reasoning, mutual respect, and the national interest.
