Pursat:Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reaffirmed the Royal Government's commitment to addressing territorial issues, emphasizing the need to resolve them through various mechanisms. He made these remarks while overseeing the distribution of rice seeds and food packages to families affected by floods at the Pursat Provincial Stadium.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister criticized certain individuals for making irresponsible criticisms from afar without taking responsibility. He specifically referred to the October 23 Government led by former opposition leader Sam Rainsy, highlighting that the officials appointed to oversee border affairs lacked expertise and relied on unclear maps or personal interpretations, thereby potentially jeopardizing national interests.
Hun Manet explained that border protection and demarcation are intricate tasks requiring expertise, modern technology, and clear legal documents under international law, rather than assumptions or a lack of understanding. He reaffirmed the current Royal Government's commitment to safeguarding Cambodia's territorial integrity using internationally recognized maps, modern technologies, and negotiations respecting national sovereignty.
The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of peace, noting the growing significance of the phrase "Thank You, Peace," especially during times of challenges or natural disasters. He called for national unity and solidarity to maintain and protect peace, which he described as essential for national development and ensuring timely assistance to those in need.
