Phnom penh: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has encouraged universities across the nation to prioritise the quality of education while urging students to uphold discipline and honesty throughout their academic journey.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister addressed a graduation ceremony at the Royal University of Law and Economics held at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh. He shared his personal experience from his years of study at the United States Military Academy at West Point, advocating for universities to focus on producing highly qualified human resources capable of contributing to Cambodia's national development, rather than worrying about student dropouts.
He emphasized the importance of diligent study and urged students to strive towards their educational goals. The Prime Minister highlighted that universities should be places that provide effective teaching methods and learning environments, allowing students to graduate with both academic qualifications and practical skills. He insisted that graduates should possess genuine competence, strong life skills, good character, and the ability to succeed in the real world.
The Prime Minister cautioned against the pursuit of diplomas and high GPAs without developing real competence, stating that true success hinges on knowledge, skills, discipline, honesty, and the ability to apply learned lessons.
Currently, Cambodia hosts more than 100 public and private higher education institutions, forming a critical component of the nation's education system.
