Haikou: H.E. Huot Hak, the Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, will spearhead a delegation consisting of officials from Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism and representatives from the private tourism sector to participate in 'The 3rd Cambodia-Haikou Cultural and Tourism Exchange Day 2026.' The event, scheduled to take place from May 20 to 24 in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China, aims to bolster cultural and tourism ties between the two regions.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry of Tourism announced on Tuesday that the event is intended to showcase Cambodia's tourism potential and rich cultural heritage to the Chinese public. The programme will unfold on the historic Qilou Old Street in Haikou City, a well-known tourist spot that sees thousands of visitors each day.
Activities at the event will include a series of traditional and contemporary artistic performances by Cambodian and Chinese performers, alongside exhibitions featuring Cambodian products. H.E. Huot Hak will also participate in the Cambodia Tourism Roadshow and an event promoting Cambodia's visa exemption policy for Chinese nationals during the visit.
The Ministry stated that the programme is designed to boost Cambodia's tourism sector and publicise the trial of visa-free entry for Chinese tourists, which is set to commence in June 2026. The event is anticipated to draw over 200 participants, including key figures from tourism companies and tour operators in Hainan Province.
The initiative seeks to encourage Chinese tourism operators to develop travel packages to Cambodia and foster business partnerships with Cambodian tourism enterprises. On the fringes of the event, H.E. Huot Hak is scheduled to conduct bilateral meetings with the Governor of Hainan Province, the Mayor of Haikou City, the Mayor of Sanya City, tourism associations, and leading tourism companies in Hainan Province.
These meetings aim to reinforce tourism cooperation and promote the increased flow of Chinese tourists to Cambodia, as highlighted in the announcement.
