Cambodia exported a total of 456,581 tonnes of milled rice in the first nine months of this year, generating over US$327 million in revenue.
The update was shared in a report circulated on Oct. 6 by the Cambodia Rice Federation.
The January-November export accounted for about 65 percent of the planned export of 700,000 tonnes this year, and it was shipped to 57 countries and regions around the world, it added.
European Union countries remained the top buyers of Cambodia’s milled rice, purchasing 190,788 tonnes, followed by China and its autonomous regions, and ASEAN members with 155,366 tonnes and 45,306 tonnes, respectively.
Exported milled rice varieties included premium aromatic rice, fragrant rice, long-grain white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice.
In 2022, Cambodia exported over 630,000 tonnes of milled rice to 59 countries, earning US$414 million, while the revenue from paddy rice exports was around US$841 million.
The Cambodia Rice Federation has set an ambitious goal to export at least a million tonnes of milled rice by 2025.
