Banteay meanchey: Cambodia's National University of Management (NUM) has launched its annual 'NUM Sankranta' festival, a two-day celebration aimed at preserving and promoting national culture ahead of the Khmer New Year. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron presided over the opening ceremony on April 3. The event, held on April 3-4, is organised in collaboration with the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia and other stakeholders.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the festival features a range of cultural activities, including traditional Khmer games, classical dance performances, exhibition booths, and both traditional and modern music concerts involving prominent local artists. Organisers said the event is designed to create an engaging environment for students and young people to directly experience and celebrate Cambodia's cultural heritage.
H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron expressed appreciation to NUM and all partners involved for organising the event, highlighting its role in fostering a festive atmosphere for students ahead of the upcoming Khmer New Year. He also commended the efforts of youth volunteers and university art groups for their dedication and performances, particularly in showcasing traditional dance.
The Deputy Prime Minister further extended gratitude to Cambodia's armed forces for safeguarding national territorial integrity, and praised NUM's solidarity initiatives in mobilising funds and materials to support frontline troops and displaced communities in border areas. He encouraged public confidence in the Royal Government's leadership under Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, emphasising their continued commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable development, including the peaceful resolution of disputes in line with international law.
