Cambodia’s Trade with RCEP Members Sees Significant Growth

Phnom Penh:Cambodia's trade with member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) reached US$35.79 billion in the first nine months of 2026, marking a 21.3 percent increase compared to the previous year.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, a report from the Ministry of Commerce revealed that Cambodia's exports to RCEP members totaled US$8.03 billion from January to September. This figure represents an 8.11 percent rise from US$7.43 billion during the same period last year, accounting for 29.25 percent of the country's total exports of US$27.46 billion.

The report also noted that Cambodia imported US$27.75 billion worth of goods from RCEP members, reflecting a 25 percent increase from US$19.73 billion in the first nine months of 2025. The RCEP agreement, effective from January 1, 2022, unites 15 Asia-Pacific economies. The Ministry of Commerce is encouraging the private sector to leverage the agreement and other free trade agreements to broaden market access.

In addition, Cambodia's trade with the European Union experienced growth during the same period, increasing by 14.15 percent to US$5.02 billion. Exports to the EU rose by 14.2 percent to US$4.28 billion, while imports increased by 13.8 percent to US$745 million.
