Phnom penh: The Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council have committed to further strengthening cooperation on trade and investment between the two countries.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the commitment was made in a meeting here on Nov. 27 between Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Chair of ASEAN Business Advisory Council Cambodia, and Mr. Jack Myint, Regional Director for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council.
In the meeting, Mr. Jack Myint expressed his impression of the rapid progress in Cambodia, especially in the infrastructure sector and the new airport, citing that his visit was to seek more understanding about the investment potential in Cambodia. The current good relations between Cambodia and the U.S. will be an opportunity to facilitate business between the two countries, he added.
For his part, Neak Oknha Kith Meng highly appreciated the excellent relationship between the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council for many years, with the two institutions often collaborating to organise business events to attract investors and promote bilateral trade. He also highlighted the strong relationship between Cambodia and the U.S., especially the existence of a tariff-free agreement that provides high confidence to business people from both countries.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng emphasised the importance for Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council to continue to work closely for the benefit and prosperity of both business communities. The U.S.-ASEAN Business Council is an advocacy group that aims to foster economic growth and trade ties between the U.S. and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ member countries.
