CDC and Grab Collaborate to Enhance Electric Vehicle Infrastructure in Cambodia

Phnom penh: The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the Southeast Asian super-app Grab Holdings Inc. have agreed to deepen cooperation on electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, digital literacy, and local business support. This partnership was solidified during a courtesy meeting held in Phnom Penh on August 31, involving Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, H.E. Sun Chanthol, and Ms. Chin Yin Ong, Chief Organisation Capability Officer of Grab Holdings Inc.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting focused on exploring strategic collaboration to establish robust EV charging networks across the Kingdom and align corporate initiatives with national policies designed to accelerate the adoption of green transport. Both parties exchanged insights on formulating a balanced regulatory framework for EV policy and fair pricing structures within the ride-hailing sector.

H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed the Royal Government's full support for Grab's proposed initiatives, commending the company's ongoing commitment to contributing to Cambodia's digital economic transition. He emphasized the importance of public-private cooperation in modernizing the transport and logistics sectors.

During the discussions, Ms. Ong requested further recommendations and guidance from the Deputy Prime Minister to enhance the implementation of Grab's business action plan in Cambodia. Key action items highlighted include studying cooperation with the Royal Government to establish a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Hub to assist local businesses, capacity building through training programs aimed at strengthening digital literacy for driver-partners and merchant-partners, and contributing to tourism promotion through innovative marketing strategies.

Addressing corporate security concerns, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored the government's commitment to tackling online financial fraud and digital scams, ensuring a safe, transparent, and trustworthy environment for technology investments and platform users.
