CDC and Incheon Chamber of Commerce Commit to Boost Investment Ties

Phnom penh: The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) of the Republic of Korea have pledged to enhance their cooperation to foster investment flows and human resource development in Cambodia. This commitment was established during a meeting between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, and Mr. Park Joo-bong, President of the ICCI, held in Phnom Penh. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed his gratitude towards the ICCI delegation for their involvement in organizing the Incheon-Cambodia Investment Promotion Forum 2026 in June. He voiced optimism that the forum, along with Cambodia's investment promotion mission to Korea, would attract more Korean investors and business leaders to Cambodia. Mr. Park Joo-bong highlighted the successful outcomes of the investment promotion campaign, noting that 38 Korean media outlets covered the event, generating heightened interest in Cambodia's in vestment potential. He reported that several leading Korean companies had shown interest in investing in Cambodia, particularly in the sectors of furniture manufacturing and agricultural processing. During the meeting, Mr. Park also revealed plans to establish a technical skills training center in collaboration with the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. An MoU is anticipated to be signed for this initiative, with the ICCI seeking support and guidance from the CDC. In response, H.E. Sun Chanthol assured the ICCI delegation of full backing for the initiative, stating that the CDC, on behalf of the Royal Government, is prepared to coordinate and facilitate the project. He emphasized that the center would aid in developing Cambodia's human resources and enhancing the technical skills of its workforce to meet the future demand for skilled labor from Korean investors. H.E. Sun Chanthol also encouraged the ICCI to continue promoting Cambodia's fa vorable economic prospects, political stability, and investment opportunities among Korean businesses and investors. Mr. Park reaffirmed the ICCI's dedication to strengthening and expanding cooperation with Cambodian institutions and relevant Korean agencies to enhance bilateral relations and promote sustainable business and investment flows from Korea to Cambodia.
