Phnom penh: China has reaffirmed its commitment to playing a constructive role in easing the ongoing border tension between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during a regular press conference on November 13, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mr. Lin Jian highlighted that China has taken note of recent developments and emerging issues concerning the implementation of the Joint Declaration between the two neighboring countries.
Mr. Lin emphasized China's hope that both Cambodia and Thailand will exercise restraint and work collaboratively towards a resolution. He urged both sides to engage in friendly consultations, utilize existing bilateral mechanisms, and seek a mutually acceptable solution to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
The spokesperson reiterated China's pledge to continue its constructive involvement in promoting de-escalation through appropriate means.
