Chinese Business Delegation Eyes Investment, SME Partnerships in Cambodia

Shanghai: A Chinese business delegation led by the Shanghai International Association for Cooperation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SIAB) has expressed strong interest in exploring business and investment opportunities in Cambodia and partnering with Cambodian small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the commitment was conveyed during a meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and SIAB President Mr. Qian Zhenhua. The meeting, attended by representatives of Sinopec (China) and the Cambodia National Trade and Investment Promotion Federation (CamTIPA), took place on the sidelines of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on July 17.

The delegation highlighted growing confidence among Chinese investors in Cambodia's development and praised the country's young and dynamic workforce. It also outlined plans to collaborate with Cambodian SMEs in emerging sectors such as the digital economy, renewable energy, and infrastructure. The delegation announced a future business mission to Cambodia involving Chinese enterprises.

Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the delegation's interest, emphasising that SMEs are a government priority for driving economic growth, creating jobs, and strengthening domestic production.
