CICA Chief Commends Cambodia’s Active Role in Promoting Peace and International Cooperation

Phnom penh: The Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), H.E. Kairat Sarybay, has commended Cambodia for its active role in promoting international cooperation, as well as maintaining peace and security globally. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the remarks were made during a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, at the Senate's Solidarity Palace on Tuesday morning. Senate spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith relayed the details of the meeting. H.E. Kairat Sarybay noted Cambodia's important contribution to CICA's work and highlighted the country's constructive engagement within the framework. He also underscored opportunities to further expand cooperation between Cambodia and CICA member states in areas such as tourism, education, and trade, both bilaterally and multilaterally. The CICA Secretary General expressed admiration for Cambodia's cultural heritage, particularly following his visit t o Siem Reap, where he observed the country's ancient temples and rich history. He also praised Cambodia's leadership in peacebuilding, especially under Samdech Techo Hun Sen, both domestically and on the international stage. For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the CICA delegation and highlighted the organisation's important role in promoting peace and security in Asia and beyond. He expressed appreciation for CICA's contributions in fostering regional connectivity, particularly between Southeast Asia and Central Asia, such as Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, noting that such cooperation strengthens ties among Asian nations. CICA consists of 28 member states, 10 observer states and 5 observer organisations.
