Commerce Minister Calls on Foreign Companies to Register Certificate of Origin for Their Products

H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, has appealed to all foreign associations and companies to register the Certificate of Origin (CO) for their products to get legal protection.

In a recent ministry’s news release, H.E. Minister highlighted the importance of CO registration as Cambodia, a member of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), has many laws and regulations for CO protection of both foreign and local products.

H.E. Pan Sorasak made the call while presiding over a recognition ceremony of France’s Champagne wine of Interprofessional Champagne Wines Committee (CIVC) as the first-ever foreign product to get CO in Cambodia, held at the Embassy of France early this week, with participation of H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen, Ambassador of France to Cambodia.

The minister also emphasised the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia in the enhancement of intellectual property (IP) sector through law enforcement, training and mainstreaming of IP in school curriculum, the organisation of World IP Day, and so on.
