Phnom penh: The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia has firmly dismissed claims by Air Chief Marshal Prapas Sonjaidee, Director of Thailand's Joint Information Centre, suggesting that Cambodia initiated an attack.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry emphasized that it was, in fact, Thailand that launched an unprovoked armed assault on Cambodian territory. The Cambodian government insists that Thailand's actions, which preceded the alleged attack on July 24, 2025, cannot be justified as self-defense or victimization.
The Ministry highlighted that Thailand had publicized the 'Chakrabongse Bhuvanath' war-readiness plan days before the incident, indicating that the attack was premeditated. This revelation challenges Thailand's narrative of acting defensively.
Cambodia argues that Thailand's references to provocations and security concerns to delay joint survey work contradict the Joint Statement of December 27, 2025. The Cambodian Defence Ministry urges Thailand to adhere to this statement by resuming the survey and boundary demarcation work of the Joint Boundary Commission swiftly.
Cambodia remains committed to a peaceful resolution based on international law and existing agreements. The Ministry underscores that force or unilateral actions will not be accepted as means to resolve boundary disputes.
