DPM Prak Sokhonn to Attend 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting and Visit Brunei Darussalam

Bandar seri begawan: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn is set to lead a delegation to the 25th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) in Bandar Seri Begawan from April 27 to 28. The visit comes at the invitation of H.E. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Brunei Darussalam's Minister of Foreign Affairs II.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting is timely as ASEAN and the EU gear up to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of their Dialogue Relations in 2027. This gathering provides a platform for ASEAN and EU Foreign Ministers to review the progress of their cooperation and plan its future direction. The aim is to further strengthen the ASEAN-EU Strategic Partnership.

The Foreign Ministers will also engage in discussions on regional and international issues of shared interest, focusing on promoting peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.

In addition to attending the 25th AEMM, H.E. Prak Sokhonn will undertake an official visit to Brunei Darussalam from April 29 to 30. During this visit, he will have a royal audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Minister of Finance and Economy, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam.

The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister will also conduct a bilateral meeting with H.E. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof. The discussions will focus on enhancing the close ties of friendship and expanding cooperation in various potential areas between the two nations.

The press release further highlights that as Cambodia and Brunei prepare to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year, this visit provides momentum to enhance the bonds of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation across all sectors for the mutual benefits of both countries and their peoples.
