Ministry of education is disseminating preparedness plan for disaster risk in education sector for 2019 in order to ensure security of students, teachers and education staff, and effective continuation of schooling amidst possible natural incidents.
H.E. Pit Chamnan, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport chaired the dissemination workshop taking place today here in Phnom Penh.
The exercise is being prioritised as parts of Cambodia, including some schools and education institutions, are facing with flashfloods caused by the on-going rainy season.
By far, according to the National Committee for Disaster Management, flood is affecting seven provinces of Cambodia, leading to four deaths, displacement of thousands of families, destruction of crops, and inundations of places including schools.
According to the Secretary of State, the disaster preparedness plan is an effort of the Royal Government of Cambodia in alignment with national and international frameworks and strategies to respond to climate change.
