EU Proposes Satellite Surveillance for Cambodia-Thailand Border Ceasefire

Brussels: The European Union has extended an offer to deploy satellite surveillance to monitor a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, amidst a resurgence of border tensions, as announced by the bloc's foreign policy chief.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, EU High Representative H.E. Ms. Kaja Kallas has urged for an "immediate restoration" of the ceasefire. She emphasized that the long-standing territorial dispute should not escalate into a broader conflict. In her statement, Kallas expressed her commitment to mitigating the tension and highlighted the EU's capability to provide satellite imagery to assist in monitoring the ceasefire.

The proposal was communicated by H.E. Ms. Kallas to the foreign ministers of Cambodia and Thailand during separate discussions earlier today. The EU Delegation to Cambodia indicated that the offer is still available as diplomatic efforts persist to reduce tensions in the region.
