First Successful Kidney Transplant in Cambodia Celebrated by Senate President

Phnom Penh:Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has expressed his delight over the first successful kidney transplant operation in the country.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the patient, Ms. Mov Sophan, a teacher from Prey Veng province, underwent regular dialysis and medical treatment at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh before her successful surgery. In a social media message shared on Thursday afternoon, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled his previous promise to help Ms. Mov Sophan receive treatment for her kidney disease.

The successful transplant was achieved with the dedicated care and medical expertise of Cambodian and French doctors at Calmette Hospital. The Senate President expressed his gratitude to the medical teams and the kidney donor, emphasizing the life-saving impact of the transplant for individuals with severe kidney failure who otherwise rely on regular dialysis.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also affirmed continued support for both the kidney donor and the recipient. He further highlighted advancements in Cambodia's healthcare sector, noting its growing capability to provide successful treatments for serious medical conditions, including kidney transplantation.
