Phnom penh: The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has dismissed false information circulating on social media claiming that the Royal Government of Cambodia has sold Koh Muoy in Preah Sihanouk province and Koh Ky in Kampot province to private companies.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a press release issued this evening, the CDC clarified that both islands are state private properties and will be leased to private companies solely for development purposes in support of the tourism sector.
The Royal Government has not sold either island to private companies, nor has it sold any islands within Cambodia's maritime territory to private companies, the CDC stressed.
The public is always requested to rely on official sources for accurate information and avoid being misled by unverified reports shared on social media.
