Government Spokesperson: Thailand’s Accusations Misrepresent Cambodia’s Peace-Loving Nature

Phnom penh: Cambodia remains firmly committed to preserving peace at all costs, and the recent accusations by Thailand do not reflect the true nature of Cambodia as a peace-loving nation.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, over the past three decades, peace has become the identity of Cambodia. The nation achieved full peace on December 29, 1998, through the Win-Win Policy of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate. Peace is the foundation of Cambodia's development and growth today. The Royal Government of Cambodia places utmost importance on maintaining peace for all, no matter the cost, emphasized H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, at a press briefing.

H.E. Pen Bona addressed recent accusations claiming that Cambodia is the aggressor, started the conflict, initiated the firing, and violated the ceasefire agreement reached on July 28, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He stated that such accusations are baseless and do not reflect the true nature of Cambodia as a nation committed to peace.

Moreover, the Royal Government of the seventh legislature of the National Assembly, led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, has launched the Pentagonal Strategy to transform Cambodia into a high-income country by 2050. This ambition is firmly rooted in peace. The spokesperson concluded that Cambodia must safeguard peace to fully dedicate its time and resources to nation-building and development, and any armed conflict or war is something Cambodia must resolutely avoid.
