Government to Implement a Special Budget Plan for Frontline Military and Police Officers

Phnom penh: The Royal Government of Cambodia will implement a special budget plan to support military and police personnel serving on the front lines, as well as the families of the fallen, wounded, or disabled soldiers.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the move was made after five days of border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand caused significant human and material losses, including deaths, injuries, disabilities, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians.

H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, stated that for the families of fallen or permanently disabled soldiers and police officers who can no longer serve, the Royal Government will ensure that their immediate family members are prioritized for employment in the units previously served by the deceased or injured.

Additionally, for all military and police personnel currently stationed on the front lines, as well as the families of the fallen, the wounded, the disabled, and civilians displaced by the conflict, the Royal Government reaffirms its commitment to providing the necessary support, protection, and facilities.

To further mobilize support, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has appealed to the Association of Banks in Cambodia and the Cambodia Microfinance Association to explore all possible measures to help alleviate the financial burden faced by the armed personnel actively defending national sovereignty; the families of the fallen, wounded, and disabled; and the displaced civilians affected by the recent conflict.

As of 6:00 p.m. on July 29, 2025, the total number of displaced persons rose to 168,946 in five provinces: Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Battambang, Pursat, and Siem Reap.
