Ministry of Interior has urged all architects to comprehensively incorporate fire-prevention measures into their construction design in order to mitigate the risks.
H.E. Ouk Kim Lek, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior, underlined the call when presiding over recent national workshop on Fire Security in Cambodia taking place at the ministry here in Phnom Penh this morning.
Cambodia's rapid development has brought about mushrooming construction industry resulting in high demand for electrical and flammable household commodities, underlined the secretary of state.
With the emerging trend, he continued, it is critical for all architects to ensure that comprehensive fire-security measures are well incorporated in their construction design.
Fire incident does not only kill and injure people and damage private and public assets, but also implicate poverty reduction policy as well as the environment, safety, security, and order in the society, he added.
According to H.E. Ouk Kim Lek, to address the social issues, the Royal Government of Cambodia has developed various laws, legal procedures, policies and guidelines since 2013, and continues to carefully look into it.
