H.E. Vong Sauth Pays Tribute to Fallen Soldiers from Thbong Khmum Province

Pursat: National Assembly Second Vice President H.E. Vong Sauth paid tribute on Saturday to fallen soldiers from Memut and Thbong Khmum districts in Thbong Khmum province. At a ceremony for bereaved families in Memut, he praised the soldiers who died in combat with Thai forces on Dec. 17 as 'courageous and heroic warriors who sacrificed their lives in the mission to defend Cambodia's territorial integrity.'

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, addressing the families, the Second Vice President described their deaths as 'a loss of valuable human resources for the national armed forces.' He emphasized that this model of heroism would be recorded in history, urging everyone to honor these heroes who have protected the peace of the people.

He called on compatriots both within and outside of Cambodia to unite and maintain faith in the country's leadership to defend the nation's territorial integrity. He stressed that the presence of the National Assembly leadership demonstrates that neither the National Assembly nor the Royal Government will abandon the heroes of the armed forces, national police forces, and citizens.

H.E. Vong Sauth expressed condolences by offering each family 5 million Riel (approximately US$1,250), including 1 million Riel from National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary and 4 million Riel from provincial representatives. Additionally, he provided each family with 250 kilograms of rice and five cases of noodles.
