Phnom penh: His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has conveyed a message of profound admiration and solidarity to the nation’s armed forces, acknowledging their “noble and solemn mission” to safeguard Cambodia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Royal Address was delivered by the King during the opening of the Fifth Session of the National Assembly of the Seventh Legislature this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the monarch expressed deep appreciation for the leadership of Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, who is also President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. His Majesty lauded their “wise, principled and patriotic” guidance in managing national affairs, ensuring stability, development continuity, and a steadfast commitment to standing alongside the Cambodian people through all challenges.
The King specifically underscored the leadership’s unwavering defence of Cambodia’s sovereignty, independence, and the rights and freedoms of its citizens, utilising diplomatic and international legal mechanisms to uphold the nation’s integrity. The monarch also praised the strong spirit of unity and solidarity demonstrated by Cambodians both at home and abroad, commending their resolve in defending peace and territorial integrity with “dignity, non-violence, and steadfast patience”-qualities he described as befitting a nation with a rich civilisation and deep-rooted moral values.
The King expressed particular satisfaction with the nation’s “firm unity and collective resolve” as the country navigates threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity posed by hostile forces. His Majesty concluded by noting that the National Assembly, in close alignment with the Royal Government and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, has maintained a tradition of unity and solidarity with the people. This collective strength, he emphasised, forms a powerful national force essential for successfully defending Cambodia’s most sacred national interests.
He further acknowledged the National Assembly’s diligent work during the intersessional period, including legislation, oversight, and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, which he said has significantly contributed to national development and Cambodia’s continued progress toward lasting prosperity.
