Hun Sen Urges Cambodian and Lao Youth to Foster Stronger Ties

Phnom Penh:Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People's Party, has called upon Cambodian and Lao youth to enhance their solidarity and continue exchanging views and experiences. This initiative aims to deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Hun Sen made these remarks during a meeting with H.E. Thongly Sisoulith, Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh.

Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith reported that Hun Sen fully supports the collaboration between the youth of Cambodia and Laos, encouraging them to maintain solidarity and engage in idea exchanges within their respective youth organizations.

During the meeting, Thongly Sisoulith shared insights from his visit to Cambodia and discussions with senior leaders, including Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service. They explored ways to enhance youth cooperation between the two countries.

Thongly Sisoulith emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation across various fields such as culture and politics, which would contribute to stronger ties and mutual development.

Hun Sen responded positively to the perspectives shared by the Lao youth leader, highlighting the significance of youth exchanges. He also shared his leadership experiences, from his youth to his role in leading Cambodia towards peace and development.

Thongly Sisoulith expressed gratitude for Hun Sen's insights, acknowledging their value as lessons for his future endeavors.

The meeting coincided with the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Laos in 2026, marking a testament to their enduring friendship. Thongly Sisoulith's four-day official visit to Cambodia began on October 5, at the invitation of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
