Phnom Penh:The Kan Ben Festival, a significant cultural and religious event, has commenced across Cambodia, running for 14 days in pagodas nationwide.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the annual festival will continue until October 10. During this period, Cambodians visit pagodas to offer food to monks, who are believed to pass these offerings to the ancestors of the devotees.
Kan Ben is an integral part of the larger Pchum Ben Festival, also known as the Festival for the Dead, which is one of the most significant festivals in Buddhism. This year, the Pchum Ben Festival will be observed on October 11, marking its fifteenth day.
