Kratie: The 10th River Festival will be held in Kratie province from Mar. 27 to 29, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This will be the second time the northeastern province hosts the annual event, which will take place under the theme 'Green River, Cultural Heritage and Grand Nature.'
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the organisation of the festival has received approval from the Royal Government of Cambodia. As part of the tourism diversification campaign through new events and initiatives, the festival will feature artistic performances, exhibitions, as well as cultural and sports activities aimed at attracting visitors to the riparian province.
The event will also serve as an opportunity to raise public awareness and encourage participation in the sustainable development and conservation of river resources. The River Festival is organised annually on a rotational basis among provinces located along major rivers. The first festival was held in Kratie province in 2015, followed by host provinces including Stung Treng, Kampong Cham and Thbong Khmum, Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, and Takeo.
Last year, the three-day River Festival held in Takeo province attracted 358,994 local and international visitors.
