LABUAN, The Labuan Media Practitioners Association (LMPA) demonstrated its commitment to community welfare by organising a community service initiative at Masjid Jamek An Nur.
The event, named ‘Gotong-Royong Perdana Media di Masjid An Nur’ was conducted in collaboration with Labuan Corporation (LC), the Labuan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Labuan Public Works Department (PWD), and Labuan Youth Council (MBL).
LMPA deputy president Jailani Hasan said this community service project was conceived just last month in response to the evident need for a cleaning program at Labuan's iconic mosque.
He said the cleaning efforts were divided among the participating teams to ensure a comprehensive transformation.
Labuan Corporation's team focused on tree branch cutting, the JBPM team concentrated on overall cleaning of the upper and ground floors, and Labuan PWD, led by its director Mohd Faizul Mohd Ali Hanapiah, tackled the ceiling, grilles, and specific areas on the upper floor.
Additionally, MBL's team contributed by working on the glass windows.
Jailani Hasan expressed gratitude for the seamless execution of the cleaning programme, attributing its success to the close cooperation of government departments involved in the initiative.
He underscored the importance of the collaboration with government departments, emphasising the initiative’s success was a result of their close cooperation.
“We must express our gratitude for the commitment and teamwork displayed during the community service, the cleaning programme was implemented smoothly even without external funding,” he said.
The generosity of local philanthropist Fadillah Eddy Khalid was acknowledged as he contributed food and drinks to support the volunteers during the community service.
Jailani said this collective effort not only enhances the cleanliness and aesthetics of Masjid Jamek An Nur but also exemplifies the impact achievable through collaborative corporate social responsibility endeavors.
