The Melaka Information Department (JaPen) has organised more than 100 patriotism-themed programmes in the state involving various institutions and communities since July 5, as part of the National Day celebration on Aug 31.
Its director Shahrom Ravin Daram Abdullah said the implementation of these programmes, including ‘Semarak Gemilang’, ‘Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang’, ‘Sketsa Rukun Negara’, ‘Jalinan Insan Wahana Aspirasi (JIWA)’, and ‘Demokrasi Kita’, will continue until the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16.
“Patriotism-themed programmes, such as fly the Jalur Gemilang, continue to be organised in efforts to inspire love for the country and patriotism, despite having celebrated National Day on Aug 31.
“This initiative aims to invigorate the spirit (of patriotism) among the country’s multiracial population leading up to the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16,” he told reporters after officiating the 2023 Melaka Tengah ‘Semarak Gemilang’ programme, here, today.
So far, JaPen's programmes have received positive feedback from various parties, including people of different ages and ethnicities, he added.
Shahrom Ravin Daram said all programmes held this year will be reviewed to assess their impact, particularly regarding patriotism and unity among participants, adding that programmes deemed to have a lesser impact will be improved in their execution next year.
"For example, for today's Semarak Gemilang programme, we included the Javanese community from Kampung Paya Dalam. In the future, we will involve the Baba and Nyonya or Chinese community to highlight the unity aspect," he added.
Melaka JaPen will also help the Tourism Promotion Division promote its initiatives and activities for Visit Melaka 2024 (TMM 2024) on social media, with the support of strategic partners and the MADANI Community which is a multiracial volunteer body under the department.
"We have 84 MADANI Communities in Melaka who serve as JaPen Ambassadors, and they will help disseminate information related to TMM 2024 to their friends and families," he added.
