Minister of Environment Urges Investors to Embrace Green Growth and ESG Standards

Phnom penh: H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, has strongly urged and encouraged all factory owners, enterprises, and investors in Cambodia to adopt green investment practices and implement ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles to ensure environmentally friendly economic growth.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a visit to the D'LUXE INTERNATIONAL Co., Ltd. bag factory on May 4, H.E. Minister highlighted the importance of supporting and encouraging national and international investors to engage in green investment as a means to combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

H.E. Minister emphasized that green economic development not only creates new job opportunities but also ensures economic growth that preserves natural resources for future generations. Additionally, he mentioned that such investments promote internal cleanliness and social responsibility, focusing on public health and adherence to both national and international standards.

H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth stated, "Green investment is not just about making a profit, but it is an investment that is highly responsible for society and public health." He further elaborated that the main goal of green investment is to generate economic benefits while promoting environmental sustainability through the use of renewable energy, thereby reducing reliance on fuel and coal consumption.

The Minister called on national and international investors to maintain cooperation with the Royal Government to transform Cambodia into a leading green investment country in the region.
