Ministry and ITUC-AP Pledge to Enhance Labour Rights in Cambodia

Phnom penh: The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) and the International Trade Union Confederation - Asia Pacific (ITUC-AP) have affirmed their commitment to promoting freedom of professional organisations and harmonising industrial relations in Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the commitment was made during a meeting between H.E. Mrs. Sovann Vannaroth, Permanent Secretary of State at the MLVT, and Mr. Shoya Yoshida, General Secretary of ITUC-AP.

During the meeting, H.E. Mrs. Sovann Vannaroth emphasized the cooperation between the Ministry and ITUC-AP in recent years, which has achieved progress in promoting labour rights and freedom of professional organisations, aligning with international labour standards and Cambodia's social context.

This collaboration has also contributed to social dialogue, enhancing industrial relations, and creating an attractive investment climate, she stated.

H.E. Mrs. Sovann Vannaroth added that the partnership between the Ministry and ITUC-AP will continue to grow, contributing more effectively to the development of the labour sector and the promotion of freedom of professional organisations in Cambodia.

Mr. Shoya Yoshida expressed his commitment to continue working closely with the MLVT to advance the labour sector and uphold freedom of professional organisations for the benefit and well-being of workers, both present and future.
