Rabat:Abdeltif Loudyi, the Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defense Administration, met with a US Congress delegation led by Brian Mast, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, during their visit to Morocco.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting underscored the long-standing ties and high-level military cooperation between Morocco and the United States. Both parties expressed a commitment to enhancing their relationship and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The discussions highlighted defense cooperation, including the regular Defense Consultative Committee meetings, frequent high-level visits, and the joint organization of the annual "African Lion" exercise, which enhances military interoperability among participating nations, particularly in Africa.
Loudyi expressed appreciation for the US support for Morocco's sovereignty over its territory, including the Sahara, and acknowledged US efforts to resolve this dispute. He also noted Morocco's initiatives in South-South cooperation and regional integration under King Mohammed VI's leadership, bolstering stability and prosperity in Africa.
The US delegation commended King Mohammed VI's leadership, recognizing Morocco's role in regional stability and peace. Both sides agreed to further strengthen their partnership, focusing on defense, cybersecurity, and the space sector.
