MTA EMBARKS ON DIGITAL ID TO IMPROVE AGENCY PROFESSIONALISM, PREVENT SCAMS

The Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) is proactively improving takaful agents’ professionalism and has embarked on digital identification or e-ID to support the takaful industry’s digital transformation journey.

Chief executive officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed said that in supporting the initiative, MTA had organised the recently concluded “Kemas Kini & Menang” contest to get takaful agents to update their details, including photos, on the agent database called Online Takaful Agency Registration System (OTARS).

He said that apart from supporting the implementation of e-ID, the contest also supported the nationwide Anti-Scam campaign.

“Last year, we have prepared a plan to determine the takaful industry’s direction in Malaysia, and one aspect we are emphasising is digitalisation.

“We are taking many approaches for digitalisation, and one area we feel is essential is agent identification. This is very important as we are seeing many scam cases.

“We are responsible for administering the digital IDs within the (OTARS) database, thus ensuring the agents’ professionalism and integrity. We hope this will give the public confidence to continue dealing with takaful agents,” he told the media after the prize-giving ceremony for the “Kemas Kini & Menang” contest here today.
