SEREMBAN, The Negeri Sembilan government aims for all 471 Community Development Department (Kemas) kindergartens across the state to establish a Pre-Tahfiz class by next year. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun stated that the initiative seeks to empower Quranic education for kindergarten students with the intention of producing young huffaz (individuals who have memorised the entire Quran). 'For this year, 213 out of the total number of kindergartens have introduced Pre-Tahfiz classes. Although the existing kindergartens do provide lessons in Quran recitation, I want to make sure that all of them have this huffaz curriculum to enable children to memorise the Quran quickly. 'It's important to familiarise children with these concepts, as this will help us raise a generation passionate about the Quran, Islamic art, and other positive pursuits,' he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the state-level Healthy and Bright Kids Carnival here. Also present was Kemas deputy director-gene ral (Management and Development) Rafea'ah Nahar. In a statement released recently, Kemas said that over 62,175 children from its kindergartens nationwide have participated in the Pre-Tahfiz programme to date. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
