Phnom penh: The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cambodia have engaged in discussions to identify key areas of collaboration to foster a sustainable financial and banking sector. The discussions also included organizing joint efforts to bring together stakeholders on microfinance in Cambodia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the commitment was established during a meeting in Phnom Penh on February 10 between H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E. Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia.
During the meeting, both parties shared views on enhancing cooperation between the central bank and the United Nations to support sustainable development initiatives.
H.E. Dr. Chea Serey emphasized NBC's dedication to being a responsible and active participant in the international community. She highlighted that NBC is prepared to share its experiences with international partners, especially in areas such as payment systems, credit information-sharing systems, law enforcement cooperation, and advancing international development goals.
The NBC Governor further stated that collaboration with the United Nations is crucial in supporting the implementation of national laws and progressing towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
