New Cambodia Health Facility Inaugurated to Boost Medical Services in Kandal Province

Takhmao: A new eight-story building at the Chey Chumneas Referral Hospital in Takhmao city was officially inaugurated on Mar. 4, aiming to significantly expand healthcare access for residents in Kandal province.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the facility, which contains over 100 rooms and cost approximately US$6 million, was funded by the Royal Government of Cambodia. Officials have stated that the investment responds to requests from the Kandal Provincial Administration and addresses critical needs in general medicine, surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, who also leads the Royal Government's Working Group for Kandal province. In his address, H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth stated that the new building reflects the Royal Government's commitment to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services for all citizens. He noted that this aligns with the first phase of the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy, which places "people" as its first key priority.

The Deputy Prime Minister further elaborated on the Royal Government's broader efforts since the start of the 7th legislature of the National Assembly. He highlighted the implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy alongside priority policy programmes and key measures. These initiatives, he explained, are designed to navigate ongoing challenges, seize opportunities to strengthen economic competitiveness and resilience, improve the business climate, and diversify the economy to achieve the "Cambodia Vision 2050."

As head of the Kandal provincial working group, H.E. Academician Aun Pornmoniroth urged local authorities, hospital management, and medical staff to ensure security, safety, and public order. He called for the continued enhancement of all public services to be fast, easy, and transparent for citizens, adhering to standards of responsibility and accountability.

Concluding his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister appealed for national solidarity in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasised that unity is an indispensable force for successfully overcoming all challenges, including those related to border issues.
