Phnom penh: Team NPIC 01 of the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC), which won the championship in the 13th National Robotic Competition, will represent Cambodia at ABU Robocon 2026 to be held in August in Hong Kong, the People's Republic of China. The announcement was made by H.E. Khim Vuthy, Director General of the National Television of Cambodia (TVK), during the closing ceremony of the competition. The event took place under the presidency of H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) in Phnom Penh on July 5.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the 13th National Robotic Competition serves not only as a competitive platform but also as an opportunity for Cambodian students from higher education institutions to meet, exchange experiences, and develop new creative concepts, particularly relevant in the current artificial intelligence era. The TVK Director General emphasized the event's importance in fostering innovation among students.
The competition included participation from eight robotic teams representing five higher education institutions. These included two teams from the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), two from NPIC, one from the National Technical Training Institute (NTTI), two from the National University of Management (NUM), and one from Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute (PPI).
