Phnom Penh: Cambodia and Thailand traded accusations Saturday of fresh attacks as deadly border clashes entered a third day, leaving at least 33 people dead and more than 168,000 displaced, as international pressure mounted on both sides to reach a ceasefire. As of Saturday, Thailand reported seven soldiers and 13 civilians had been killed in the clashes, while in Cambodia, five soldiers and eight civilians had lost their lives, according to Defense Ministry spokesperson Maly Socheata.

According to Radio Free Asia, during an emergency meeting on Friday, members of the U.N. Security Council called for de-escalation and urged ASEAN to mediate a peaceful solution. The ongoing violence has led to significant displacement along the border, with thousands seeking refuge and safety amid the conflict.

The border clashes have exacerbated tensions between the two nations, prompting calls from the international community for immediate dialogue and resolution. The humanitarian impact of the conflict is of growing concern, with efforts needed to address the needs of the displaced populations on both sides of the border.
