PM Congratulates Two Cambodians on Receiving 2nd ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award

H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his congratulations to Mr. Hem Sophem and Mrs. Aok Sochenda who won the 2nd ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award in the categories of Junior and Senior Youth, respectively.

The award conferment ceremony took place in Vientiane, Laos on Aug. 24 during the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment.

“This award is not from me alone, but from other young Cambodians who have made significant and active contributions to environmental protection with ‘Nisset Plastic’ (plastic students),” said Sophem on his Facebook page yesterday.

Mrs. Aok Sochenda is an environmentalist and content creator. She is the founder of ZEROW, which promotes zero waste lifestyle.

Held every four years, the ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award (AYECA) recognises young ASEAN Member States' (AMS) citizens, aged 18 - 35 years, who have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment.

The AYECA Awards are presented to two youth-champions from each AMS under two categories: Junior Category (aged 18 - 25) and Senior Category (aged 26 - 35).
