PM Reaffirms Commitment to Child Rights and Protection During International Celebrations

Phnom penh: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has reaffirmed the Royal Government's strong commitment to promoting child rights, welfare, and protection on the occasion of the 77th International Children's Day, the 25th World Day Against Child Labour, and Cambodia Children's Day 2026.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a message issued as Honorary President of the Cambodian National Council for Children, Samdech Thipadei highlighted the observance as a reflection of the government's determination to strengthen the implementation of children's rights and improve the well-being of all Cambodian children. The celebrations focus on themes related to peace and protection of children's rights and eliminating the worst forms of child labour.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of children as a national resource and a key priority under the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1. This strategy places human capital development at the centre of national development efforts, with measures aimed at promoting child welfare through improvements in healthcare, nutrition, education, social protection, and child protection services.

Samdech Thipadei also addressed social protection programmes designed to support vulnerable families, including cash assistance, scholarships, and vocational training opportunities. He reaffirmed Cambodia's policy of zero tolerance for child labour, highlighting cooperation with international partners to eliminate child labour and expand work opportunities for young people.

Efforts to protect children from violence, exploitation, abuse, neglect, and online threats require coordinated efforts from various stakeholders. The implementation of national policies and action plans serves as a guiding framework for Cambodia's child protection efforts.

The Prime Minister called on ministries, authorities, and media institutions to strengthen awareness campaigns and promote child participation. He expressed appreciation to all contributors to advancing children's rights and welfare, urging continued collaboration to build a safe and prosperous future for every Cambodian child.
