Kratie: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and the First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet have provided a newly constructed home and essential aid to the family of a fallen soldier in Kratie province, reaffirming the Royal Government’s commitment to supporting the dependents of heroes who died in the line of duty. The assistance was delivered to the family of a soldier who was killed during a five-day armed confrontation along the Cambodia-Thailand border in July.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in addition to the house, the Prime Minister and First Lady donated food supplies and necessary household items to ensure the immediate well-being of the bereaved family. Speaking at the handover ceremony in Prek Beng village, Chhlong district, on Friday, First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony emphasized the Royal Government of Cambodia’s deep commitment to caring for the families of fallen heroes. ‘No family will be left to face hardship alone, regardless of the sacrifices already made,’ she stressed, underscoring the nation’s enduring gratitude.
Addressing the widow, who is now raising four children, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, who also serves as permanent Vice President of the Cambodian Red Cross, urged her to remain resilient and prioritize her children’s education, assuring the family that the Royal Government and people of Cambodia stand ready to support them. She further announced that scholarship opportunities would be made available to the children of fallen soldiers to ensure they can complete their studies and secure dignified employment in the future.
Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony also directed relevant ministries, institutions, and the Kratie provincial authorities-led by Governor H.E. Va Thorn-to actively facilitate vocational training and employment opportunities for these families, alongside maintaining regular outreach and health monitoring. Mrs. Ping Lina, the wife of the late soldier Prak Pisith, accepted the donation with deep sorrow for her loss, yet expressed profound pride in her husband’s sacrifice in defending the nation’s territorial integrity. She conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister and the First Lady, calling the new house an essential shelter for her family. Mrs. Lina pledged to persevere in raising her children, ensuring they complete their education and build stable futures.
This support package forms part of a broader, sustained initiative by Prime Minister Hun Manet and Dr. Pich Chanmony to assist veterans, retirees, and the families of fallen soldiers.
