Phnom penh: The Russian Navy's Training Ship Perekop, part of the Baltic Fleet, is set to make an unofficial two-day port call at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port from September 11 to 12, 2026. The visit aims to foster goodwill and strengthen ties between the Russian and Cambodian navies.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ship will be welcomed by representatives of the Royal Cambodian Navy, and H.E. Anatoly Borovik, the Russian Ambassador to Cambodia, will be present at the official welcoming ceremony. This visit is expected to include protocol meetings between the ship's command and Cambodian civil and military officials, further solidifying cooperation between the two nations.
The itinerary for the Russian sailors and cadets includes cultural exchanges, such as visits to tourist attractions in Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh, as well as a friendly football match with their Cambodian counterparts. Additionally, the personnel of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and members of the Russian Embassy School will have the opportunity to tour the Perekop, enhancing mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
The Perekop's visit will conclude with a farewell ceremony on September 12, after which the ship will depart from the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port. This visit marks the first return of the training ship to Sihanoukville since November 2019, highlighting the ongoing naval relationship between Russia and Cambodia.
