Spokesperson: Cambodia-Thailand Ceasefire Agreement Well Respected So Far

Phnom penh: H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Spokesperson Unit of the Royal Government of Cambodia, today commended both Cambodia and Thailand for respecting the ceasefire agreement reached yesterday. 'Since the ceasefire came into effect at 12:00 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2025, the situation along the border has remained calm, indicating that the ceasefire has been respected for nearly 30 hours,' he said at a press briefing this afternoon.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Government Spokesperson reiterated Cambodia's consistent respect for and strict implementation of all terms stipulated in the July 28 ceasefire agreement, the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, and the Joint Statement signed on Dec. 27 at the 3rd Special Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting.

The Joint Statement of the 3rd Special GBC Meeting includes agreements on an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, the resumption of peaceful border demarcation and demining work, respect for international law, and the return of detained Cambodian soldiers, in line with the U.S.- and ASEAN-facilitated Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.

H.E. Pen Bona stressed that the 3rd Special GBC Meeting reaffirms the unwavering commitment to full and effective implementation of the ceasefire arrangement of July 28, 2025, all other related agreements reached thereafter, and agreements reached at the GBC meetings and Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) meetings, as well as other existing agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
